Sweetly the sun envelops us with its warm rays – not a harsh warmth, for we’re in the shade of the gum leaves now, where light breaks into patterned tessellations around our mud-encrusted feet. I breathe in the soft minty eucalyptus that this umbrella of shaded sunshine offers me, and, dipping my fingers slowly and then my entire hand into the clear running water of the stream, my senses are watery blue and lemon yellow convalescing. Is this one of the simple joys the Lord grants us – basking gratefully in His creation? Not to worship it, but to consider? Not to wash away, but to soothe the worries of the day? Maybe in its beauty, its healing comforts, this shaded haven signifies true heaven, above, and the goodness of our glorious Creator.

My next project will continue a study of Australian poetry, but this time with a focus on producing extended responses, reflective pieces and truly creative writing.
